About ZAETAL - Our Mission, Vision, and Leadership
Empowering the Future
We bridge the gap between complex artificial intelligence and practical, everyday solutions.
Our Mission
To democratize advanced artificial intelligence by engineering robust, full-stack solutions. We empower researchers and businesses to collect, annotate, and analyze unstructured visual data through accessible citizen science platforms, intelligent automation, and seamless remote tasking architectures.
Our Vision
To lead the global transition toward scalable systems where cutting-edge machine learning and intuitive user experiences converge. We envision a future where high-quality data mining, predictive object detection, and automated visual analysis are integral, accessible tools for solving complex, real-world challenges.
The ZAETAL Journey
ZAETAL is derived from the words "Zambrano et alt". What started as a small academic research group has rapidly evolved into a global collective of engineers and data scientists. Recognizing the sheer volume of unstructured visual data in the world, we set out to build an infrastructure that doesn't just store images, but understands them. Today, ZAETAL powers operations spanning from commercial SEO networks to advanced aerial drone analytics.
Meet Our Leadership

Fausto Zambrano Vásconez
With a PHD in Computer and Information Science from the Anglia Ruskin University and over 7 years of full-stack software engineering experience, Fausto drives the technical architecture at ZAETAL. His expertise bridges the gap between state-of-the-art AI—including advanced computer vision models like YOLO and TensorFlow—and highly scalable web and mobile applications.
Before founding ZAETAL's core infrastructure, Fausto architected complex enterprise solutions, citizen science platforms, and robust data-mining pipelines across various industries. He is passionate about combining rigorous QA testing with innovative machine learning, ensuring that ZAETAL's intelligent automation and remote tasking systems are both powerful and exceptionally reliable.

Dr. Ian van der Linde
Working at the intersection of computer science, psychology, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence, Dr. Ian van der Linde brings an unparalleled perspective to ZAETAL. He is an Associate Professor at Anglia Ruskin University and holds a PhD in Human and Computer Vision alongside an MSc in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience.
A Fellow of the British Computer Society (BCS) and a Chartered Engineer, his research explores the philosophical and technical links between human cognition and machine vision. His insights guarantee that ZAETAL's computational systems accurately model, replicate, and expand upon human perception, particularly in complex image processing and analytical environments.

Dr. Ashim Chakraborty
Dr. Ashim Chakraborty is a Senior Lecturer in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at Anglia Ruskin University, bringing deep expertise in medical informatics, pattern recognition, and applied mathematics. He holds a PhD in Machine Learning and Image Processing.
His comprehensive work spans algorithmic development, deep reinforcement learning, and ethical AI integration. By drawing on his experience leading complex funded research projects in healthcare and biomedical imaging, Dr. Chakraborty ensures that ZAETAL's computer vision and anomaly detection pipelines remain resilient, scalable, and cutting-edge.
